Muslim Girls Saturday Club
How it all began

ANNUAL / MONTHLY EVENTS

Towards the end of 2007 the MSC introduced a new and more inclusive programme for girls aged 11+.  Monthly sessions tackle topical issues that are very age specific to our growing audience.  The girls are grouped and assigned to a Mentor who is at hand both in and out of Club time. It is a great opportunity for the girls to air their worries and concerns within a safe and relaxed forum.  Mentoring sessions take place every LAST Saturday of the month.

The MSC introduced its first quarterly newspaper in 2001.  Staff, students and parents of the Club are given the chance to have their say, write short articles etc.

Each edition is crammed with Club news and views regarding things we’ve been up to as well as covering forthcoming trips / events / projects etc.

Islamic history, games and quizzes make an interesting read.  The newsletter also includes a ‘special mention’ section allowing us all to praise those who have something to celebrate, e.g. the finishing of the Quran, the returning from Umrah etc….so if YOU have something to shout about do let us know.

SPORTS DAY
All year round the girls at the Club are well mannered and caring individuals… that is until Sports Day!
The combination of mixed aged teams, great sunshine and an open field somehow transforms our girls into a fiery, competitive and rowdy bunch! They are all in it to win it and if that means cheating then so be it! Greatest levels of skill, perseverance, team work and determination is shown by all.  Great prizes are issued to the winning team…but it’s the taking part that counts…right?!

EID PARTY
A BIG fuss is always made when it comes to celebrating Islamic festivals.  A halal style party allows the girls to dress up and have fun with their friends.  A small talk highlighting the infinite blessings placed upon us by Allah swt kicks off the event, after which the girls are entertained through endless party games, mouth watering cuisine, great prizes and a beautiful gift to take home.

Once a year the staff at the Club cooks and serves breakfast to the girls!  The girls trek to the youth centre with their dishes and empty bellies hoping for a good old nosh up!  The girls leave having had fun and running the ‘Aunties’ ragged as well as learning the adaab of eating.

LIFE’S BIG CHANGES
The Club annually holds a session especially for girls aged 9.  The Life’s Big Changes workshop allows these young growing Muslimahs to explore the weird and wonderful changes that they will soon be facing within a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
